Promedior is a clinical-stage biotechnology company leading one of the most exciting new frontiers of antifibrotic drug development, the direct therapeutic regulation of the fundamental cell populations that control the fibrotic process. Proprietary platform: Promedior is the first and only company dedicated to creating pentraxin therapeutics based on the precise and targeted regulation of monocytes and monocyte-derived cells. Macrophages, fibrocytes and dendritic cells are fundamentally important drivers of the immune system’s cellular response to all forms of disease and injury. Recent discoveries by Promedior and others have shown that monocyte-derived cells are the source and master controller of profibrotic and pro-inflammatory cells (such as fibrocytes and M2 macrophages), as well as the source of pro-resolution regulatory macrophages which produce interleukin-10. Expanding on these groundbreaking discoveries, Promedior is creating a therapeutic platform based on pentraxins, a family of naturally-occurring proteins shown to regulate a number of important immune, inflammatory, and fibrotic processes in the body through control of the differentiation and activation of monocyte-derived cells.
