Joseph Zakrzewski
Chairman
Mr. Zakrzewski is currently the Chief Executive Officer and Director of Xcellerex, a privately held company focusing on commercializing its proprietary next generation manufacturing technology for biotherapeutics and vaccines. Mr. Zakrzewski recently served as the Chief Operating Officer of Reliant Pharmaceuticals, a specialty pharmaceutical company focused on cardiovascular drugs from 2005 through the first quarter of 2007. Mr. Zakrzewski had responsibility for the company’s pharmaceutical operations including, R&D, business development, supply chain/manufacturing, quality, IT, and compliance. From 1988 to 2004, Mr. Zakrzewski served in a variety of executive level capacities at Eli Lilly & Company including R&D, manufacturing, finance and business development. His most recent position was Vice President, Corporate Business Development, where he had global responsibility for all business development activities on a global basis. Mr. Zakrzewski received a BS in Chemical Engineering in 1986; an MS in Biochemical Engineering from Drexel University in 1988, and received an MBA in Finance in 1992 from Indiana University. In addition to his role on the Xcellerex board of directors, Mr. Zakrzewski also serves as a member of the Board of Insulet, Arius Research, and DOV Pharmaceutical.
Dominick C. Colangelo
CEO - Promedior, Inc.
Mr. Colangelo joined Promedior in December 2008 with 15 years of
pharmaceutical industry experience, including nearly a decade with Eli Lilly and
Company. During his career, Mr. Colangelo has held a variety of executive
positions of increasing responsibility in finance, product development,
pharmaceutical operations, and corporate business development. During his
tenure at Eli Lilly and Company, Mr. Colangelo held positions as an
international tax attorney in the finance organization and as Director of
Strategy and Business Development for Lilly’s Diabetes and Growth Disorders
Product Group. He also served as a founding Managing Director of Lilly
Ventures. Mr. Colangelo received a B.S.B.A. degree in Accounting from the
State University of New York at Buffalo and a J.D. degree from the Duke
University School of Law.
Paul D. Goldenheim, M.D.
Former President - TransForm Pharmaceuticals, Inc.
Dr. Goldenheim is trained as a pulmonary physician and is currently working as a director and consultant in the field of biotechnology, serving on the boards of directors of several companies. He has a long history in pharmaceutical research, development, and management, most recently as President of TransForm Pharmaceuticals (acquired by Johnson & Johnson) and Vice-Chairman of the Board of Directors of Hypnion (acquired by Eli Lilly). Dr. Goldenheim has authored numerous scientific publications and been an inventor on a number of pharmaceutical patents. He also serves on several non-profit boards. Dr. Goldenheim obtained both his A.B. and M.D. degrees from Harvard.
Amir Nashat, Ph.D.
General Partner - Polaris Venture Partners
Amir Nashat, Ph.D., is a General Partner in the Boston office of Polaris Venture Partners. He joined Polaris in April 2002 and focuses on investments in the life sciences.
Prior to joining Polaris, Dr. Nashat completed his Ph.D. as a Hertz Fellow in Chemical Engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology with a minor in Biology under the guidance of Dr. Robert Langer. His doctoral research focused on information flow through neurons, neural implants, and neural tissue engineering. During his time at M.I.T., he completed an internship in the London office of Goldman, Sachs & Company, where he worked on interest rate derivative products.
Dr. Nashat currently represents Polaris as a Director of Athenix Corporation, eNOS Pharmaceuticals,
Hydra Biosciences, Promedior Inc., Pervasis Therapeutics Inc. (where he was founding
President), T2 Biosystems and WaveRx. Additionally, he is Board Observer
to GI Dynamics, and supports Polaris' Investment in Advion. He currently serves
on the Board of the New England Venture Capital Association, on the Advisory Board
of the Simmons School of Management Entrepreneurship Initiative, and is a Catalyst
for the Deshpande Center for Technological Innovation at M.I.T.
Prior to obtaining his Ph.D. at MIT, Dr. Nashat earned both his M.S. and B.S. in Materials
Science and Mechanical Engineering at the University of California, Berkeley.
James W. Broderick, M.D.
General Partner - Morgenthaler Ventures
James Broderick, M.D., is a General Partner at Morgenthaler Ventures and invests in companies developing innovative biotech and medical device therapeutic products.
He was a co-founder of Promedior. He is also founding CEO of Innovative Metabolics, and an investor and board member of several other novel biotech and medical device companies including
OncoMed Pharmaceuticals, Bayhill Therapeutics, Spine Wave, Symphony Medical, and
Trellis Bioscience. Previously, Dr. Broderick served as a director at NexTag.
He opened Morgenthaler's Boston office in 2005 after spending several years in Silicon Valley. Trained as a physician and an engineer, Dr. Broderick is a graduate of MIT (Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering) and University of Massachusetts (Doctor of Medicine). He was a member of the Kauffman Fellows Program, a two year educational fellowship sponsored by the Kauffman Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership designed to train future venture capitalists and leaders of high growth companies. Dr. Broderick
had previously worked as a consultant at Mercer Management Consulting, and as a resident at Duke University Medical Center.

Mr. Werner is a General Partner of HealthCare Ventures. He is a member of the Board of Directors of Aciex, Inc., DecImmune Therapeutics, Innomab, Oriel Therapeutics, Inc., Promedior, Inc., Stemgent, Inc., Tetralogic Pharmaceuticals, Inc., and Xencor, Inc., all private companies. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of MiddleBrook Pharmaceuticals, a public company. Mr. Werner received his MBA from the Harvard Graduate School of Business and his BS and MS degrees from Princeton University.
